Impact & Results

In the past 3 years:

  • We have provided family-based care to 145 sick postpartum mothers and 687 high-risk babies.
    • Over 60% of enrolled babies were maternal orphans (their mothers died just after birth).
    • 23% of enrolled babies were multiple births (twins or triplets).
    • 15% of enrolled babies were premature or low birth weight.

Outcomes:

  • Based on population studies in sub-Saharan Africa, the baseline survival rates is only 75% for twins and triplets and a shocking 20-40% for orphaned infants.
  • In our program, over 98% of the babies survive.
  • A donation of $1650 saves one life.

How we do it:

In partnership with Malawi’s public health sector, Joyful Motherhood combines specialized clinical care, family-centered support, and local capacity building to ensure vulnerable mothers and high-risk infants receive the care they need beyond the health facility.

A donation of $1650 to Joyful Motherhood results in one life saved.
