Twins

E&E arrived at our office on Tuesday, carried on the backs of their grandmother and their great-grandmother. They are now 5-months-old and their mother is in critical care at the regional hospital due to an ongoing infection that developed soon after her delivery. Although she was healthy before birth, their mother has been in and out of the hospital for the past 5 months due to complications related to the delivery. At this point she is no longer able to breastfeed – she is fighting for her own life – and her mother and grandmother were desperate to find a way to support the twins. When they learned about our services they walked two miles from the referral hospital to our office, because they could not afford the $2 cost of the public bus. When we enrolled the twins, their great-grandmother dropped to her knees – her eyes welling with tears – to thank us and ask for God’s continued blessing for our work. Our staff gave them the $4, from their own pockets, to cover the transportation cost back to the hospital.

This family is doing their very best with meagre resources and love-filled hearts to support the twins and their sick mother. Because of you, we can relieve part of their burden, we can give them the nutritional resources, emotional support and information they need to ensure the twins survive infancy and we will continue to check in on the twin’s mother.
